Levisticum officinale
Winter-hardy and perennial aromatic herb.
Lovage is also known as “Maggi herb” because of its aromatic smell and taste. The root balls are frost-resistant and can easily be cultivated in the garden or in pots. As a spice for soups, meat, sauces, stews and much more, there are no limits to its use as a seasoning herb. The leaves of lovage can be harvested and used fresh throughout the summer, but the herb and seeds also develop their unique flavor all year round when dried as a spice.
